If you want to sell something online, you need a performing “letter” and/or sales video. I’m going to provide you with the formula to make it work even if you are not a pro.
David, co-founder of Empower Network laid out his Sales copy formula like this.
1. Big Bold Outlandish Headline
Make it a result you got or that your reader will or can get. Make it a question. Make it a problem someone is dealing with or a benefit they are seeking. You want to build curiosity. You want people to wonder what it is you have or what you are talking about.

2. Make a good opening line that draws people in and is entertaining or shocking.
3. Talk about your story behind what you are selling. So it has to be related to what you are selling and draw people in deeper to your sales process prepping them to buy.
4. Use bullet points that list the benefits of what is inside of what you are selling. Again, build curiosity.
Ex. In video 5, you are going to learn a weird trick that will…
5. Call to Action.
This is where you tell people what to do. Don’t beat around the bush. Tell them to buy now by clicking the add to cart button. Hopefully you get the idea. =o)
My friend Daegan shared some of his secrets for writing sales copy. You use the same guidelines for video as you do writing.
A. Forget about what you want to write about
People think that when they write an offer or make a video offer, they need to cover all kinds of things. They cover company products, the history, the comp plan, blah blah vomit all over me.
Forget all that crap.
Focus on 1 thing. Only on what the market is after.
Deal with the biggest problem and frustration of your target market and go deep on it. Solve this problem!
This is the only focus of your selling. In the money industry (MLM, Network Marketing, Home Business), it is always about money. That is the biggest problem.
They want to know how they are going to make money. This doesn’t mean to explain the company comp plan. If you can’t get around that, read from the top of this post on down again.
B. Give a good opportunity to solve their problems
Whatever the problem is, you want to have a product, service, or opportunity to solve their issue.
Ex. I created a video informational product about understanding the causes of ADHD to solve the symptoms that are out of control. This is an “opportunity” to change my visitors life forever.
If I sat there talking about how awesome I am because I overcame my ADHD symptoms, they wouldn’t really care about that. But I can share my story about what I went through to get to where I am and how that will help them.
Now that will add a ton of value to my presentation and help sell because thousands of people are going through the same thing and they can relate to it.
So only describe your product or why your company is so great when it directly supports how and why your visitor has the best chance of making money with it.
Otherwise you are wasting your time and can subvert your own efforts and lose a bunch of money.
C. You are not the opportunity
Some people say they are an _____ Rep. Fill in the blank with a company name.
If you can grasp this, it will help you make a lot of money and diversify where it comes from.
You have your own business and your provide services and products to fulfill needs and desires. Your opportunity is only 1 of those.
If you solely rely on your MLM company for income, that can turn around to hurt you later. Companies go under, they fire reps, and other nightmares that force you out.
That means you lose everything. Don’t do this. Diversify.
Step By Step
1. Begin with a headline that addresses the concern of money
2. Start with a lead in that pulls your visitors directly into your story to entertain and address their concern.
Or you can pose a question that will pull them in deeper.
Ex. If you’re sick and tired of working pay check to paycheck then pay attention to everything you’re about to read.
3. Go deeper into your story.
If you have a good story, bring up real life failures that people can identify with.
People will think, “If you can do this than so can I, if I just knew what he knows” when they hear your story.
Again, building curiosity.
4. Bring up some things that they may have learned and tried in the past but following that leads to failure and explain exactly why.
Hint at it that you found a way around it.
5. Bring up you “light bulb” moment that changed everything for you.
6. Introduce your solution or system
a. Explain why it will work for them where the others have not.
b. You can bring up a few details about your company or comp plan
You don’t have to name it by name if it is not your own product. You can keep it in mystery (curiosity) so that they don’t run off searching Google or Youtube to find out all about it. Then they could end up buying under someone else. It happens!
If it is your own product, it is good to mention it by name so they get use to it. If they want to search it out, and they buy, you still make the money.
7. Provide bullets that keep them curious about what you have but keep it in mystery!
How many? That depends. The more money it cost, the more information you want to provide.
8. Explain how the process works.
Whatever it is that you do, keep it as simple as possible from the visitors perspective. How will they be doing what you are doing. Is it duplicatable? If not, how can you make it simple and duplicatable?
Present this picture to them of their downline following this same process that you are.
Example phrase: “Just think what it’s gonna be like when your prospects are doing exactly what you’re doing right now”.
This also gets them to have in their mind that they are already on your team. It also gives them the picture that there is something easy for them to follow and their recruiting will be easier.
Ultimately, they see themselves making money faster.
9. What makes you different than everyone else?
Since there are thousands of people out there trying to do what you are, you need something that makes you stand out from the crowd.
This will increase your conversion rate (buy rate).
Do you provide 1 on 1 coaching, group coaching, conference calls, webinars, co-0ps?
Do you have a team marketing guide or training system or a funnel ready for people to use?
These are good things to have and to bring up in your sales process now.
10. Strong guarantee
Having a guarantee will help push more people in. You don’t want to guarantee that people will make a certain amount of money because you can get into legal trouble with that.
You also can’t guarantee that people will actually do anything.
11. Tell them to join
Now it’s our favorite part. Tell them to join us
12. Add success stories (testimonies)
Ad text or personal videos of people having success with your team throughout the sales letter/video. This adds social proof that what you have going on works.
13. Add a P.S.
Sometimes this is the most read part of the sales process.
14. Testing & Tracking – The most important
You always want to test and track your work. This is the only way to know how successful you or your downline can be with it.
15. Roll Out to your downline
Now that you know this works, make it available to your downline so they can use it to get the same results and build their team.
